Flappy bird style game

Summary

The flappy bird project was a project where we used a series of video tutorials and on hand experience to learn how to make a flappy bird style game. the purpose of this project was to learn how to use the basics of unity’s 2-d engine. We downloaded assets to make a flappy bird style game, then we uploaded them into unity. Then we made a script so the bird could go up and down and “die” when it hit the ground. Next, we animated the bird adding a flap and die animation. We then put in some score text and put in a script that allowed us to restart the game when w “died”. There was more to the project but I did not finish it.

Contemporary Game Assignment

Albert Hsieh Candy Crush Saga

What platform is used to play the game?

MAC

What is the objective of the game?

The purpose of the game is to connect 3 of the same candies in a row to score points, your job is to score a certain amount of points within a limit of moves (1 move = moving one piece of candy).

What three things do you like about the game?

  1. The art style
  2. The simplicity
  3. The speed of the game

What three things did you not like about the game?

  1. The pay to win play style
  2. The disgusting overuse of “cute”
  3. The lack of an actual story

List three reasons why you think this game is popular and successful

1.Its fast

2.Its simple

3.Its addictive

The plan

To make candy crush better they should remove the life system. Its pointless why try 3 times then instead of paying just wait a for a couple of hours and try again? Instead make the game more difficult but make it so they lose near the end not the beginning. But, keep advertisements, without limits on lives the players will keep trying the difficult levels they will think “I almost had it!” and keep on trying over and over getting more playtime which means more time for advertisements which just so also means more money made.

Script

Hi I’m Ari. This week we “willingly” did a project on what we time we spent doing things during a 24 hour period. Throughout this project I learned that I spend 33.3% of my day in school/ doing schoolwork, another 29.2% of my day sleeping, I also spent 16.7% of my day with my family, 8.4% of my day is moving places, I spend 8.3% of my day entertaining myself, and I spent a total of 4.2% of my day eating. I have found that in my life, I spend most of my time bored in school or dreading my next day in school. I spend so little time doing things I enjoy it’s scary. And even with the very large appearance of my time sleeping the amount of time I spend sleeping is still considered not enough.  This project has shown me the horrors of “average” life. But, I will not allow numbers to get in the way of how enjoy things.

What I Learned

Body language says a lot. The way you sit, whether or not you shake someones hand, and how you move can say a lot about you. Every conversation has a power differentiation. Nonverbal’s govern how people thin and feel about us. When you feel powerful you are more likely to participate more. when you fake power you start to feel more powerful. Don’t fake it till you make it make it, fake it till you BECOME it.

Try to avoid gossip, judgement negativity, excuses, exaggeration, and dogmatism. Hail Honesty Authenticity Integrity Love. Be careful of the way you say things. Move your voice down to your throat. Make sure you use camber and prosody but don’t use repetitive prosody. watch your pace, and use the right amount of silence. Don’t forget about pitch and volume too.

The missing piece of communication skills is vocal executive appearance. disconnect of choice of words and the way you say them. watch your vocal presence, find the way to say your words so that the audience can connect with them better. Don’t up speak, like ever.
